The Scientific Council of the CRFJ is composed of French and international researchers, of representatives from the MEAE (French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs), of the MESR (Ministry of higher education and research) and the CNRS (France's National Scientific Research Centre). It gives its opinion on the scientific policy and orientations of the research unit. It reviews and auditions the candidates to the position of director of the CRFJ.
It meets once a year in an ordinary session. During this session, the director of the CRFJ presents the activity report of the research unit.
